Have any of you snipers heard of Hunteering? It's mainly a UK thing... but it sounds/looks pretty awesome.

Looks like a 40 hr all vs all sniper competition and it's single elimination.

Looks cool.

This looks somewhat similar to the Recon hole punch game.

In fact it's just a variant of the Recon hole punch game.

Yup.. and you have objectives to fulfill within that time frame, while stalking, and you can only go out with 10 bbs. or something to that affect.

The differences are hunteering is basically sniper vs sniper. The Recon game is Recon team vs Recon team vs hunter killer team which is large and in charge and patrolling the AO. They do not have any objective other than to hunt down and kill Recon teams.

Roger over on our website added this:

"great game of round robbin indeed.

additional idea for you to consider-

The Primary Mission is to go to each waypoint and collect your stamp.

Secondary Mission, eliminate and gather intelligence from enemy recon patrols.
If you eliminate an enemy patrol, you may gather their punched cards. They will have to start from the beginning to meet the primary objective."

Roger is a Recon Marine who ran BRS on my ranch. Great guy and very knowledgeable.

It looks like this could be fun, but in practice, we would need to add some kind of incentive for people to leave the safety of their hide early in the game. Let's face it, it would be a very quiet game for a few hours until people start getting bored, and the one with the willpower to do nothing the longest would probably be last man standing .

One potential fix for this problem is for an admin to check in with each player periodically (rotating), go to their location and destroy their hide (if one is present), tell them to move to a location of their choice 100 yards or more away. There is some hope for action by forcing players to move periodically like this =D.

Another fix would be to have, like the recon hole punch game, a series of objectives but with a time limit, this may be difficult to implement as admins would have to keep a timer for each player, maybe an easier way to do it is have a time limit for each objective, at that time, those who have not completed it are eliminated, those who have, have a time limit to complete the next one, and so everyone's timer resets at the same time, only one timer required. Rather than hole punches, the objectives would be to find designated locations which would have an index card with an alphanumeric code that they would write down. When first object concludes, each player must have at least one of the codes, when second object concludes, each player must have at least 2 of the codes, etc. Maybe 20 locations with 5o bjective timers, 30 minutes each. The game would go for 2 and a half hours max, break for lunch and maybe do it again. If more than one player is left standing at the 5th objective, we an implement a king of the hill sort of deal where the first player to reach the landmark and hold it for 10 minutes wins.
